Os materiais de construção convencionais como os sintéticos e os materiais de isolamento mineral são comuns hoje em dia nos trabalhos de renovação. Além disso, apenas as construções clássicas são utilizadas na reabilitação. Este artigo trata especificamente de alguns tipos de juntas de componentes de edifícios com base em técnicas inovadoras de união utilizadas em combinação com materiais sustentáveis, como o isolamento térmico feito a partir de matérias-primas renováveis. A renovação térmica de telhados, paredes, janelas e caves é alvo de especial atenção. Além disso, esta tese trata dos trabalhos de renovação realizados no complexo habitacional de Mautner- Markhof- Gasse 10 em 1110 Viena. Para este fim, alguns exemplos são ilustrados com a ajuda dos planos fornecidos pela empresa Leyrer + Graf para os trabalhos de renovação do complexo habitacional. Com a ajuda de construções recicláveis, é feita uma tentativa de alcançar o menor impacto ambiental possível durante a construção. Além disso, as construções recicláveis são contrastadas e comparadas com o método de construção convencional.
