Christopher Reeve soared to fame in the role of Superman in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1995 his career was cut short by a freak horseback-riding accident that left him paralyzed. Displaying remarkable courage, Reeve pursued his goal of walking again someday. Meanwhile, he used his fame to help disabled people. By 2004 Reeve was still unable to walk. However, he regained feeling in some parts of his body. He has written his autobiography and continues to work as an actor and director.
