Car culture as part of urban territorial organisation

This research seeks to understand how the 'car culture' has directed the urban planning and the structure of cities, so that the individual transport becomes the protagonist, through discussions on sustainable mobility, qualitative and quantitative data surveys and observations carried out in large Latin American cities. The car is more than a means of transport, it is a motorised culture that represents part of the contemporary way of life in which it loses its original proposal, as a means of transport, to become a symbol of social status. Furthermore, the car culture has had repercussions on the organisation of cities, leaving in its accelerated growth, obsolete and inadequate planning, which reflects on the quality of urban life.
