A writing friend once told me that I should aim for 100 rejections in a year. I looked online and saw she wasn’t just encouraging me to set a bar that I could reach - the 100 rejection project is a real thing for writers. In 2021 I set out to do just that, and found that it wasn’t easy as I thought. This anthology is a collection of the pieces that found homes, as well as some reflections on the process. You don’t normally see failure, especially in writing. This is because usually a writing failure means that no one will publish it. Thanks to self-publishing, I can now embarrass myself without needing to inconvenience a submissions editor. It’s a brave new world.
