Wendy Alice Eriksson
Wendy Eriksson is a contemporary award winning Australian artist. She has been painting for many years, originally working with watercolour and then moving on to acrylics and mixed media. Over this time she has built up a collection of artworks that reflect the Australian culture. A few years ago, the largest dry lake in the centre of Australia, Lake Eyre came to life when it filled with water due to heavy rains. This lake had been dry for 100 years so to see the desert abundant with plant and animal life was a rare occurrence. This incredible change to the landscape was the subject of her Flooded Plains series. The Australian Outback with its little shacks, unusually shaped trees, iconic people and wildflowers also feature in her artworks. Being a country surrounded by water, this book would not be complete without a selection of paintings that typify the Australian beach and outside lifestyle. An iconic landmark dear to Wendy's heart is the Sydney Opera House. Her mother was an opera singer and she grew up surrounded by music and culture. The wonderful shapes of the building's structure and its many facets are often the focus of her Sydney paintings. Wendy now resides in Airlie Beach, North Queensland, Australia, surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Coral Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, sail boats and colourful characters; a constant source of inspiration which motivates Wendy to paint her contemporary, bright art pieces. This book is a collection of artworks that are closely related to Australia including desert, coast and of course, Sydney. 3
