Lo studio si concentra sull’analisi dei parametri fisico-chimici del fiume Nkam, al fine di stabilire una diagnosi delle sue condizioni superficiali. Per realizzare lo studio, sono stati effettuati campionamenti in 12 stazioni durante la stagione secca. I risultati ottenuti mostrano che le acque superficiali del fiume sono relativamente buone in relazione agli standard internazionali per le acque dolci (OMS), per quanto riguarda la temperatura, la salinità , la conducibilità elettrica, i solidi totali disciolti, la richiesta biochimica di ossigeno e gli ortofosfati. A valle è stato osservato un aumento dell’ossigeno disciolto, della richiesta biochimica di ossigeno, degli ortofosfati, della salinità e della conducibilità elettrica. Inoltre, l’evoluzione del pH non è variata molto tra monte e valle nella stagione secca. L’interpretazione dei dati mediante l’analisi delle componenti principali ha mostrato la correlazione tra i diversi parametri e la distribuzione dei gruppi di stazioni in base al grado di contaminazione. Grazie a questo strumento di elaborazione statistica dei dati, sono stati identificati parametri modellistici potenzialmente interessanti.
