64.000 Menschen verbüßen in den deutschen Gefängnissen, in denen eine angespannte Atmosphäre herrscht, eine Strafe oder befinden sich in Untersuchungshaft. Ziel dieser Untersuchung war es, statistische Erkenntnisse über das Verhalten und die Entwicklung der Zahl der Strafgefangenen und Untersuchungshäftlinge in Deutschland zu gewinnen. Wir analysierten die Anzahl der Insassen mit vollstreckten Urteilen nach Geschlecht, nach der Charakterisierung deutscher Staatsangehöriger, einem Shapiro-Wilk-Test, ANOVA für verurteilte Insassen und Untersuchungshäftlinge und schätzten Konfidenzgrenzen für die Zukunft und fanden heraus, dass die Anzahl der verurteilten Insassen zwischen 27.003 bis 31.365 bis Ende 2023 und zwischen 27.144 und 31.224 bis Ende 2024 und für Untersuchungshäftlinge zwischen 530 und 557 bis Ende 2023 und zwischen 531 und 556 bis Ende 2024.
