L’appartenance à la samba fait l’objet d’une controverse symbolique. Il y a des auteurs qui disent que la samba appartient à un certain secteur social, défini en termes de classe ou de race, comme Sodré, Matos, Lopes, Araujo, Rodrigues, Magno Siqueira ; et d’autres qui disent que la samba n’a pas de frontières, parce qu’elle appartient à tous les Brésiliens, comme Guimarães, Vianna, Sandroni, Caldeira. Les paroles de samba contiennent également des signes plus ou moins évidents de ce conflit. C’est pourquoi, dans ce livre, nous problématisons les discours des auteurs mentionnés ici et les paroles des sambas de la collection DVD Samba Social Clube, en analysant les relations discursives de la samba. Nous réfléchissons également à certaines spécificités de la samba. Nous avons également examiné les tensions et les négociations liées à l’affirmation de l’origine de la samba. Notre proposition était de cartographier les discours d’appropriation, en vérifiant comment ils étaient construits et en les confrontant. C’est pourquoi il s’agit d’une lecture importante pour les étudiants et les amateurs de samba, de culture brésilienne et d’études raciales.
