If you’ve been told your child has ADHD or behavioural issues, you’re not alone! At the time, all I was thinking was, 'What have I done to deserve what I am going through?' And at some point, routine calls and requests for meetings from teachers and principals reached a new height. Austin was a handful of a child, with a fight response to environmental stresses. The doctors and teachers advocating for medication certainly made the situation more challenging, as I was viewed as a parent who didn’t care much about what was best for my child as far as treatment was concerned. But somehow I knew medication was not the answer. Instead, I was determined to find the reason behind all the pain both of us were experiencing, and subconsciously manifesting in our own ways. I was drawn to myself and he was moving from one outburst to the next. I hope this book gives the reader a different perspective when faced with similar challenges with their kids, and to encourage those parents seeking truth to discover themselves, a self that is both surprising and sweet to get to know and therefore be able to get to know your child and re-write your story, one that is based on love, instead of fear of what may happen next.
